Frustrated baseball fans

I did a set of interviews late last week with some fans of the Colorado Rockies, and ran a big piece on Purple Row that elicited a really big response from readers about fan experience, frustrations with the team, and quite a bit of other stuff.

It’s tough to talk about fan stuff, if only because no two fans have the exact same experience with the team, and because of that, there’s usually quite a bit of disagreement among fans about what the “right” experience looks like.

Nevertheless, I think the three fans I talked to are interesting—while they are absolutely not indicative of the entire group of folks that follow the Colorado Rockies—but hopefully they at least tell a good story or two for you.

Click here to read the piece on frustrated fans over at Purple Row, if you so choose. It was a pretty fun interview to do, too; it’s always fun to talk to people other than baseball “experts,” and instead just listen to people who are straight up passionate about it, “expert” status and all be damned!

As you can see judging by the response over on Purple Row, this piece got quite a significant reaction from people who were surprised—in all different ways—about how Rockies’ followers view baseball, the team, the front office, and Coors Field. It was a really interesting exercise for me, personally, too; I can assume certain things about fans of the team, but it’s always better to hear it directly from them and observe it as objectively as possible. You know that’s, like, journalism, or something.

Lots more interviews are coming up on Purple Row by the way, we have some fun stuff in the pipeline over the next few weeks as the offseason continues. Baseball… it never ends!
